Mt. Bomunsan is the most beloved mountain of Daejeon citizens.
The shade of trees in Mt. Bomunsan has been designated as one of the Eight Most Popular and Beautiful Sights of Daejeon, and there is a legend of hidden treasures in the mountain.
Dongchundang Song Jun-gil from the Joseon Dynasty referred to Mt. Bomunsan as Mt. Bongmusan in his collection of works, which means a mountain where a phoenix dances.
Once you reach the mountain summit, Sirubong Peak, you’ll see an outstanding landscape; on a clear day, you will be able to see Mt. Gyeryongsan, Mt. Daedunsan, Mt. Seodaesan and Mt. Songnisan.
If you look south from Bomunjeong Pavilion, the mountain ranges unfold fabulously one after another and towards the north, you can enjoy the urban district of Daejeon as well as the mountains in the Daejeon perimeter at a glance.
Section 1 course goes through Gochoksa Temple until Sirubong Peak. It’s tough in the beginning, but it’s not so tough until Mt. Odosan or Geumdonggogae Pass, so you will be able to enjoy hiking toward the east.
In the vicinity of Section 1, Daejeon Aquaworld, Hanbat library, Daejeon City Local History Museum, Bomunsanseong Fortress, Mt. Bomunsan Rock-carved Seated Buddha, Bongsoru (Separate House), Wolsongjae Pass and Bomunsa Temple site are situated.
