대전시립교향악단
1984년에 창단하여 3관 편성의 체계를 갖춘 대전시립교향악단은 최고의 음악을 향한 끊임없는 노력으로 대전을 넘어 대한민국을 대표하는 교향악단 중 하나로 성장했다. 다양한 레퍼토리와 섬세한 앙상블, 다채로운 기획으로 주목받으며 대전을 넘어 한국을 대표하는 교향악단으로 자리매김하였다.
연간 80여 회의 연주를 진행하는 대전시립교향악단은 공연의 성격에 따라 다양한 시리즈의 연주회를 선보이고 있다. 국내외 정상의 연주자들과 정통 클래식의 진수를 선보이는 정기 연주회 ‘마스터즈 시리즈’를 비롯하여, 다채로운 테마에 맞춘 음악이 함께하는 ‘디스커버리 시리즈’, 깊고 섬세한 실내악의 매력을 보여주는 ‘챔버 시리즈’, 음악과 이야기가 있는 아침의 여유 ‘마티네 콘서트’, 단원들의 수준 높은 기량과 개성을 가까이에서 보여주는 ‘DPO 클로즈업’까지 다양한 기획 연주를 선보이고 있다. 더불어, 원도심 주민들을 위해 펼치는 ‘해피 클래식’을 비롯하여 연구소와 기업체, 각종 기관, 학생들을 위한 연주회 등 대전시 구석구석에서 음악의 즐거움을 전하는 ‘찾아가는 음악회’를 진행하고 있다.
대전시립교향악단은 국내뿐 아니라, 세계를 무대로 그 영역을 넓혀왔다. 2004년에 워싱턴, 볼티모어, 필라델피아를 거쳐 뉴욕의 카네기홀에서 한 미국 순회 연주를 시작으로, 2005년과 2015년에 한국 대표로 ‘아시아 오케스트라 위크’에 초청되어 도쿄와 오사카에서 성공적인 연주를 선보였으며, 2012년에 한국 시립오케스트라 최초로 빈 무지크페어라인 골드홀 연주를 비롯하여 체코 프라하, 헝가리 부다페스트, 독일 뮌헨 등의 도시에서 유럽투어를 하였다. 2017년에는 프랑스 ‘생말로 페스티벌’, 독일 ‘쟈를란트 뮤직 페스티벌’에 초청받아 클래식의 본고장 관객들에게 깊은 인상을 남겼다.

Daejeon Philharmonic Orchestra
Daejeon Philharmonic Orchestra is a metropolitan orchestra based in Daejeon. From its foundation in 1984, the orchestra was widely recognized for its diverse repertoire and delicate ensemble and has grown into a leading orchestra in Korea.
The orchestra provides various programs throughout the year. ‘Masters Series’ is a representative subscription concert program, presenting the music of the greatest composers of the classical and romantic eras with world-class top musicians. ‘Discovery Series’ offers fascinating musical experiences with interesting themes. ‘Chamber Series’ shows the charm of deep and delicate chamber music, and ‘Matinee Concert’ shares a peaceful and refreshing time through the music. ‘DPO Close-Up’ delivers high-quality performances closely by the orchestra’s musicians. Besides performances in concert halls, the orchestra also performs ‘Outreach Concert’ spreading the joy of music to the public by visiting every corner of Daejeon.
Daejeon Philharmonic Orchestra has expanded its territory not only in Korea but also in the world. In 2004, the orchestra had a tour in the U.S.A. performing in Washington, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Carnegie Hall in New York. In 2005 and 2015, the orchestra was invitied to the 'Asian Orchestra Week' as a representative of Korea and presented successful performances in Tokyo and Osaka. In 2012, the DPO had a European tour, becoming the first Korean municipal orchestra to perform in Musikverein(Vienna), and also appeared in Praha, Budapast, and Munich.
