The Sunghyeon Lecture Hall was designated as Daejeon City Monument Number 27 in 1992. It is the first Confucius lecture hall established in the Daejeon Area and it is supported by private funds. This hall has mortuary tablet of the following eight scholars: Subu Kwangpil Jeong, Chungam Jeong Kim, Gyuam Insu Song, Sage Jangsaeng Kim, Dongchun Jungil Song, Uam Shilyeol Song, Jukchang Shijik Lee, and Yaeun Shiyoung Song. Since this place was forced to be closed due to Deawongun’s order to close all lecture halls, it was rebuilt. Little was left of the original lecture hall. Here, scholars appreciate the view and poetry. Behind the gate towers called Younggyuru, Myojeongbi, and Ipgyodang, there is a shrine that has mortuary tablets of eight scholars. Visit this place to enjoy the mood of the old lecture hall.
