Railroad
Railways in Korea are operated by the Korea National Railroad (http://www.korail.com/). Tourists can use this fast, safe and reliable means of transportation at reasonable prices. Trains travel on time, with few likelihoods of delay or traffic jam than road traffic. There are three kinds of trains being operated: the Korea Train Express(KTX), the Super-Express Saemaeul-ho and Express Mugunghwa-ho. It it not easy to purchase tickets on the weekends and holidays unless you buy in advance. Tickets can be purchased at station windows, travel agencies, or online.
Korea Train Express (KTX)
With the opening of the KTX in April, 2004, Korea has joined France, Japan, Germany, and Spain in offering super high-speed train travel. The initiation of express rail service, with trains traveling at a speed up to 300 km per hour, is bringing enormous changes to the lives of Koreans by enabling them to reach anywhere in the country within two hours. It will also have economic, social and cultural implications for generations to come.

Daejeon Station
Located in Jeong-dong, Dong-gu, Daejeon Station opened on January 1, 1905, when the Seoul-Busan railway opened officially, linking the country from the capital to the 2nd largest city located in the far southeast of Korea.
On January 14, 1914, Honam-seon (railway linking Jeonnam and Jeonbul provinces, southwest areas of the country) opened between Daejeon and Mokpo, a major city in southwest.
Since then, Daejeon has served as a hub of transportation, connecting the country north and south.
Daejeon Station has expanded with the completion of the new station building in September 2003, which serves the bullet train between Seoul and Busan. The bullet train takes you to Seoul within only 50 minutes from Daejeon and 2.5 hours from Seoul to Busan. The bullet train¡¯s operation puts major cities even closer, and contributes to balanced national development.
