대전시립합창단 [Camerata Vocale Daejeon] 소개

대전시립합창단은 1981년에 창단되었다. 뛰어난 기량과 신선한 기획력으로 대한민국 정상의 자리를 지키며 한국합창음악의 지평을 넓히고 있다. 2007년 대전시립합창단은 합창 지휘의 살아있는 전설, 헬무트 릴링의 계보를 이어받은 마에스트로 빈프리트 톨을 예술감독 겸 상임지휘자로 영입, 한국합창 역사에 새로운 장을 열었다. 예술감독 빈프리트 톨과 대전시립합창단은 바흐 <B단조 미사 작품 232 (2008년)>, <요한 수난곡 245(2009년)>을 연이어 선보이며 한국 합창 음악계에 신선한 충격을 던졌다. 대전시립합창단은 그동안 바로크 합창음악부터 현대음악까지 폭넓은 레퍼토리로 한국 합창음악의 발전을 견인했다.

활발한 연주 활동 이외에도 대전시립합창단은 2010년 헨델의 <주께서 말씀하시길(Dixit Dominus, HWV 232)>을, 2013년 마틴 <두 개의 합창을 위한 미사(Mass for double choir)>를 소니뮤직 레이블 음반으로 선보여 끊임없이 도전하는 모습을 보였다. 대전뿐 아니라 대한민국을 대표하는 합창단으로 활동의 외연을 넓혀가고 있는 대전시립합창단은 2014년 제1회 서울 예술의전당에서 선정한 예술대상 음악분야 관현악(합창) 부문에서 최우수상을 수상했다. 2013년 통영국제음악제, 2014년 스위스 메뉴힌 페스티벌 초청연주, 2019년 유럽투어콘서트를 통해 독일, 슬로바키아, 세르비아, 크로아티아에서 한국문화 사절로, 한국 대표 합창단으로 성공적 연주를 선보였다.

Founded in 1981, Camerata Vocale Daejeon, showing its outstanding musicality and creative performances, has been one of the best choirs in Korea.
The choir marked special moments in its past careers, through which made a good leap forward to the world-level choir. One of the moments was when invited to perform at Bach International Choral Festival(2005), introducing its music into international audiences. Another one was a registration in the 「British & International Music Yearbook 2007」.

In 2007, the choir invited Maestro Winfried Toll, one of the most respected choral conductors, and opened an exciting musical journey leading the Korean choral history into a higher level. With him, it performed J. S. Bach’s <Mass in B minor, BWV 232> in 2008 and <The St. John Passion, BWV 245> with authentic instruments in 2009, which provided a breath of fresh air to Korean choral music. The choir since then, has led the field of Korean choir music performing high quality repertoires: C. Monteverdi <Vespro della Beata Vergine>, J. Haydn <The Creation>, <Nelson Mass>, J.S. Bach <Matthauspassion, BWV 244>, <Christmas Oratorio, BWV 248>, G. F. Handel <Messiah, HWV 56>, <Israel in Egypt, HWV 54>, F. Mendelssohn <Elijah, Op. 70>, G. Puccini <Messa di Gloria> and Requiems by many composers.

The choir’s passionate challenges in music continued even after, extending its area outside Daejeon. Starting from 2010’s G. F. Handel’s <Dixit Dominus, HWV 232> performed in Seoul to 2019’s G. Puccini <Messa di Gloria>, its performances enamored the aficionados. In 2014, as a result, the choir won the grand prize at the 1st Grand Art Award of orchestral music department chosen by Seoul Art Center. Especially in 2013, the choir was invited to perform Isang Yun’s <O Licht> at TongYoung international music festival. In 2014, the choir was also invited to perform at Menuhin Festival in Switzerland and participated in tour concert Germany, drawing out standing ovation from European audience by performing Rossini’s <Petite messe solennelle> and other repertoires, showing the beauty of a cappella. In 2019, as one of the best choirs in Korea, it went out on Europe tour, performing in Germany, Slovakia, Serbia, and Croatia, widely advertising the art of Korea.

It also challenged a new area of recording by releasing Händel’s <Dixit Dominus, HWV 232> in 2010, and F. Martin’s <Mass For Double Choir> in 2013 from Sony Label.
